Greetings great people!!!
Notice something different??? I’m a “.com”!! Yay! I told you from day one that this will be an ever revolving blog- by next week I am sure I will have a different layout! Lol
So, I tapped into my talents over the weekend and gave some wine suggestions! This was fun and it made me realize I have a lot of work to do with you guys! I want to share what I suggested and the responses….
The Date Night Wine– Vanilla Puddin Chardonnay- Total Wine $16.99
A very special person near and dear to me called on Saturday evening headed to a sip and paint. She was literally in the store and needed something nice and sweet for her date night out. Well…
I think they liked it! I reached out to her get to an official verdict and she liken it to a Chardonnay for Moscato lovers. Refined! Initially she asked for a Riesling but I know she likes sweets and this is balanced with buttery and citrus notes. You will taste a lot of pear and vanilla so it’s a great sip alone or with dessert.
*Celeb Crush*- This is the wine child of the Gabrielle Union. About a two years ago she started doing promo on IG and I have been a follower ever since! I have only found this at Total Wine which is a regional wine and beer store. I imagine your city has a place just like it.
The Free Mom for the weekend–
My suggestion: Cline Cellars Cashmere- Red Blend- $12.99
What she purchased- Kung Fu Girl Riesling- (head down).
What I should have suggested: A red table blend- Ménage à Trois Soft Red Blend or Apothic Crush- Less than $10.
When suggestions go wrong: I will admit I was having a “bougie wino” moment with this one. After work Friday, I ventured to 201 Central in Charlotte to do some hands-on research, a.k.a. “free wine tasting,” and I came across Cashmere by Cline Cellars. It’s a trifecta of 53% Mourvèdre, 25% Syrah AND 22% Grenache. (Oh these names. No worries I have a cool post on Friday on some of these. It’s overwhelming, I know.) So my sophisticated palate decided to give it a try! It was a great patio wine for me, but I have to remember that every wine ain’t everywhere. So my suggestion was mulled by a Riesling. Whomp.
But I love red blends! You get the best of the main varietals like Zinfandel, Cab or Merlot with a smaller batch of seasonal grapes. The two listed above were some of my first red blends. The Ménage á Trois will primarily be Pinot Noir and Malbec, which do not linger and leave an aftertaste. It’s like liquid silk combined with cherries and raspberries. Apothic Wines has 3 table reds that are great for beginners and new explorers. The newest addition is Apothic Crush- raspberries, chocolate and caramel. Yum! For you muscadine lovers, try this one!! Oh and Apothic Crush is available for a seasonal time only but it can be found in any wine aisle.
So, these are my suggestions for this week. As promised, I’ll break down some wine makeups on Friday for your upcoming weekend. In the meantime, follow me on Twitter and IG at @thedejavines and let me know what you are drinking! Have a wonderful evening!
